Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Chmod Toolkit (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Chmod Toolkit is an educational and utility application that:

• Calculates Unix/Linux file permission values
• Analyzes file permissions for potential security issues
• Generates chmod commands based on detected issues
• Provides educational content about Unix/Linux permissions

The App does not execute commands on your behalf. All generated commands must be manually reviewed and executed by the user.

User Responsibilities

You acknowledge and agree that:

• You are solely responsible for reviewing all generated commands before executing them
• You understand the effects of chmod commands on your system
• You will not use the App in production environments without proper testing
• You have appropriate backups before making permission changes
• You possess the necessary technical knowledge to use file permission tools safely
• You are authorized to modify permissions on the systems you are working with

No Warranty - "AS IS" Basis

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• Accuracy or reliability of results
• Error-free operation

We do not warrant that:

• The App will meet your requirements
• The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• The results obtained from using the App will be accurate or reliable
• Any errors in the App will be corrected

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ROBERT FREDERIQUE OR SIGNALSTREAM BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

• Direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
• Damages resulting from:
  • Your use or inability to use the App
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • System downtime or data loss caused by commands executed based on App recommendations
  • Any other matter relating to the App

This limitation applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other basis, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Assumption of Risk

You explicitly acknowledge and agree that:

• Modifying file permissions can cause system instability, data loss, or security vulnerabilities
• Incorrect chmod commands can make files inaccessible or compromise system security
• The App's security analysis is based on general best practices and may not be appropriate for all environments
• You assume all risk associated with using commands generated by the App
• You are responsible for maintaining backups and testing changes in non-production environments

Professional Use

This App is intended for use by individuals with technical knowledge of Unix/Linux file permissions. If you are not familiar with chmod commands and their effects, we strongly recommend:

• Completing the educational content in the "Learn" tab
• Testing commands in a safe, non-production environment
• Consulting with a qualified system administrator before making changes
• Reviewing your organization's change management policies

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Robert Frederique, Signalstream, and their affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorney fees) arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Any commands executed based on App recommendations

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. Your use of StoreKit is governed by Apple's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through an app update or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Robert Frederique/Signalstream regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements.
