Our Commitment to Privacy

Chmod Toolkit is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your file permissions, scan results, and usage patterns are yours and yours alone.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to:

• File paths or names you scan
• Permission values you calculate
• Terminal output you paste or import
• OCR scan results or images
• Folder scan results
• CSV export data
• Your device information or identifiers
• Usage statistics or analytics
• IP addresses
• Location data
• Crash reports (unless you explicitly share via iOS)

How the App Works

100% On-Device Processing

All calculations, scanning, and analysis happen entirely on your device:

• Chmod Calculator: Calculations are performed locally in real-time
• Security Scanner: File scanning and permission analysis never leave your device
• OCR Processing: Image text recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework
• CSV Export: Files are generated locally and saved to your chosen location

No Internet Connection Required

Chmod Toolkit works completely offline. The app does not connect to the internet for any feature except:

• App Store purchases (handled by Apple's StoreKit)
• Downloading the app from the App Store

Third-Party Services

Apple StoreKit

The only third-party service we use is Apple's StoreKit for the Pro unlock purchase. This is handled entirely by Apple, and we never see your payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies to all purchase transactions.

No Analytics or Tracking

We do not use:

• Google Analytics or similar services
• Facebook SDK or social media tracking
• Advertising networks
• Third-party crash reporting (Sentry, Crashlytics, etc.)
• User behavior tracking

Data Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Pro Purchase Status: Whether you've unlocked Pro features (stored by Apple's StoreKit)
• App Preferences: Your selected tab, File/Directory mode toggle, and other UI settings

This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

File Access Permissions

iOS/iPadOS

• Camera: Only used for OCR scanning when you choose "Scan Photo" (optional)
• Photo Library: Only used when you choose to select an existing photo for OCR (optional)
• Files App: Only used when you choose to import a text file (optional)

macOS (Mac Catalyst)

• Folder Access: Only when you explicitly select a folder to scan or drag-and-drop a folder
• File Picker: Only when you choose to import files or export CSV

Important: All file access is user-initiated and temporary. We only access files you explicitly select, and we never retain access after the operation completes.

Security

Since we don't collect or transmit data, there's no server-side security to worry about. Your data stays on your device, protected by:

• iOS/macOS sandboxing (app isolation)
• Your device passcode/biometric authentication
• Apple's security-scoped resource system

Children's Privacy

Chmod Toolkit does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages (4+).

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our privacy practices (for example, if we add optional cloud features in the future), we will update this policy and notify users through an app update.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, there's nothing for us to:

• Delete (we don't have it)
• Export (we don't have it)
• Correct (we don't have it)
• Share with third parties (we don't have it)

You are in complete control. All data stays on your device.
